Pangulo: Dangop kaniya ug kamo magmalipayon ug dili mahigawad.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:     We long for community and the Presence of God.

Response:  In whom we live and move and have our being.

Leader:     This day Christ tells us that we will never be alone. An Advocate—spirit of Truth–will share our journey.

Response:  With whom we will live and create community and celebrate being.

Leader:      May love of God be with you.

Response:  And the joy of Christ surround you.

Leader:     May we know the presence of the Advocate as we gather in this community of peace, May your Truth lead us to the path of discipleship with deeds of bold mercy and courageous justice.

Response:  As an Easter People following a Risen Lord, may the life of Jesus live on in us and through us. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER (unison)

Ever-Present One, we have come here today for many reasons, each with our own story.

May these reasons and stories be immersed in your Sacred Story, finding ourselves caught up in the drama and beauty of Jesus’ teachings, life, and ministry. Enable us to move boldly into the future and to fulfill the hope of love that Jesus taught, even as we pray the prayer he taught us saying,

The Lord’s Prayer

♬**HYMN OF PRAISE

“Joyful, joyful, We Adore Thee”

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,

God of glory, Lord of love;

Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;

drive the dark of doubt away;

Giver of immortal gladness,

fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee,

earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,

Stars and angels sing around Thee,

center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain,

flowery meadow, flashing sea,

Singing bird and flowing fountain

call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving,

ever blessing, ever blessed,

Wellspring of the joy of living,

ocean depth of happy rest!

Thou our Father, Christ our Brother,

all who live in love are Thine;

Teach us how to love each other,

lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the happy chorus,

which the morning stars began;

Father love is reigning o’er us,

brother love binds man to man.

Ever singing, march we onward,

victors in the midst of strife,

Joyful music leads us Sunward

in the triumph song of life.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Leader)

Holy Advocate, It seems, at times, we forget that you know us at our very depth. We become anxious and afraid that you are not with us,

in these days of isolation and worry. Yet even now you call us to the work of imagination,

generosity and patience, which are possible when we remember Whose we are. By your mercy, help us to live out the commandments of Christ within these walls, beyond this hour.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE (Minister)

All of us have been created and called to be in community Which today takes many forms!

Know this, but more importantly, live this:

As God’s children we are loved and equipped for great ministry. Follow Jesus’commandment to love boldly, even in solitude, as you are held in the grace and love of God.

PASTORAL PRAYER

Response:  “Trust and Obey”

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

SCRIPTURE READING: John 14:15-21

SERMON:

CALL TO OFFERING

Today we call upon you as Children of God

to share in the love and work of Jesus.

We, as the gathered Church, the Body of Christ,

continue in our day to witness and work on behalf of our Lord, returning our gifts, tithes and offerings.

OFFERING OF OUR TITHES, PLEDGES AND OTHER OFFERINGS

OFFERTORY PRAYER (Unison)

May these gifts, O God, become action and intention, fulfilling Christ’s commandment to love and serve. Amen.

HYMN OF DEDICATION:

“Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us”

Savior, like a shepherd lead us,

Much we need Thy tender care;

In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,

For our use Thy folds prepare:

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Thou hast bought us, Thine we are;

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

We are Thine, do Thou befriend us,

Be the guardian of our way;

Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us,

Seek us when we go astray:

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Hear, O hear us when we pray;

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us,

Poor and sinful though we be;

Thou hast mercy to relieve us,

Grace to cleanse, and pow’r to free:

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Early let us turn to Thee;

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Early let us turn to Thee.

Early let us seek Thy favor,

Early let us do Thy will;

Blessed Lord and only Savior,

With Thy love our bosoms fill:

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Thou hast loved us, love us still;

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus,

Thou hast loved us, love us still.

CLOSING PRAYER

BENEDICTION

Now leave this time of worship, refreshed and hopeful; let love be true and freely given.

And may you be encouraged and blessed by the Advocate whose love warms and surrounds you like the sun, believing that God is with us always, as close as our beating hearts. Amen.

People: Help us to worship you fully believing and following –now and always!

INVOCATION (Unison)

Ever-gracious, Way-Making God, we celebrate the gifts of your Spirit. You have not fed us a diet of shame or shrinking, but with the milk of your truth you have made us strong and faithful servants of Christ. You call us to take up the mantle of justice and to follow wherever faith leads us. You fill us with strength and hope, and you invite us to share in the cost and joys of discipleship. You promise us splendor and beauty in this life and in the world to come.

Meet us here  dear God, we pray, that your word will be fulfilled in our hearing and that your Spirit will fill us with courage. Amen.

HYMN OF PRAISE “How Great Thou Art”

O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder,

Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

Chorus:

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin:

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow in humble adoration,

And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Responsive)

Leader: Ever-gracious God, from generation to generation you call forth faithful women and men to be willing servants of truth You fill us with strength and hope,

Response: Yet we find it is often not enough.

Leader:   We pray both for great faith and for easy lives,

Response: But we know these things seldom exist together

Leader:     We pray only to avoid the time of trial

Response: When we need also to pray for strength and confidence to face the challenges that come with faithfulness. Forgive us, God, for our limited vision and our feeble trust.

Leader:  Make us strong like Stephen, so that we may rejoice in your unending grace even in the times of deepest suffering.

Response:  In Christ we pray.  Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader:        Do not let your hearts be trouble but share instead in Stephen’s vision of the heavens opened and Christ standing at the right hand of God. This glorious vision of hope is for all of us, for we are forgiven of all that separates us from the Holy One.

People:       Blessed be God, the giver of life, and blessed be God’s people,

who rejoice in Christ,

the way, the truth and the life.

Response:

“Thank You, Lord, for Saving My Soul”

 Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul

 Thank You, Lord, for making me whole

 Thank You, Lord, for giving to me

 Thy great salvation so rich and free.

MOTHER’S DAY PRAYER –

Response:  “God Answers Prayers”

God answers prayer in the morning,

God answers prayer at noon,

God answers prayer in the evening,

So keep your heart in tune.

MESSAGE THROUGH

THE READING OF THE SCRIPTURE:

                                         John 14: 1-14

WORD

CALL TO OFFERING (Leader)

We have tasted of the Lord’s goodness

and the sweetness is still on our lips.

Now we permit ourselves to be living vessels

of God’s sweet, sweet Spirit, offering ourselves, our lives and our gifts to those who are most in need of Christ’s healing mercy.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Unison)

God, bless these tithes and offerings,

that they may heal and make whole the lives of all your children. And bless those who give and those who long to give, that we may become living stones of mercy, grace and justice

in the house of your creation. Amen.

CLOSING HYMN: “Make Me a Blessing”

Out in the highways and byways of life,

Many are weary and sad;

Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,

Making the sorrowing glad.

Chorus:

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,

Out of my life may Jesus shine;

Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,

Make me a blessing to someone today.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love,

Tell of His pow’r to forgive;

Others will trust Him if only you prove

True, every moment you live.

Give as ’twas given to you in your need,

Love as the Master loved you;

Be to the helpless a helper indeed,

Unto your mission be true.

CLOSING PRAYER & BENEDICTION

Once you were not a people, but now you are a people bound together in God’s mercy

and united in Christ’s service. Depart from this place in peace and confidence, to love and serve in the name of Jesus the Christ,

the living representation of God

– our way, our truth, our life. Amen.

O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!

All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;

Praise to the Lord, who over all things so wondrously reigneth,

Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!

Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have been Granted in what He ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;

Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.

Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,

If with His love He befriend thee.

All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him.

Let the Amen sound from His people again,

Gladly for aye we adore Him.
